Meet Our Vocation Directress
Praised be Jesus Christ!
I’m Sr. Maria Immaculata and I have the very special blessing of being the Vocation Directress of the Sisters of Our Lady Immaculate. It is truly a wonderful joy to be able to journey with you and other young women throughout their discernment. It is my hope that you will have courage and peace as you profess your own “Fiat” to the Lord, just as Mary did, in the vocation that He is calling you to!
My own personal journey of discernment was one of prayer and trust in the Lord. Growing up in a good Catholic home certainly helped to plant the seeds of my vocation because it was my parents who first introduced me to my future spouse, Jesus. God has now called me as a SOLI Sister to pass on the gift that was given to me as a young girl. That of knowing and loving Jesus, first through striving to live the Religious Life faithfully, and also by teaching our Catholic faith with courage so that others will seek a deep relationship with the Lord too!
The first thought of a possible vocation to Religious Life came to me through my principal at my elementary school. He called me in his office and asked me, “have you ever thought of being a Sister?” That question certainly began an inner search within me ultimately making me ask the question what is holding me back from seeing if this is God’s call for my life.
Making time for prayer, spiritual direction, and finding support in my family and parish community were important in helping me discern this vocation. But another very important aspect was to actually begin making contact with communities and ask all my big questions! This can seem scary and may feel like a big step, but in the end of it all, Jesus is worth it! Taking this leap of faith really helped me to let go of some of the fears and just allow the Lord to work His will.
My dear sister in Christ, I look forward to meeting with you and discussing the wonderful things God has already done for you in your life, and the wonderful things he continues to do for you. If you have been sparked by any thoughts I have shared, I invite you to fill out our vocation inquiry form. I am available to answer any questions you may have about our community and Religious Life in general, to encourage and support you through any fears you may be experiencing about answering the call, but also to journey with you as you respond to the Lord’s will in your life. May our Blessed Mother Mary be always with you!
In Our Lady,
Sr. Maria Immaculata, SOLI
